Anyway, I hope you enjoy the pictures I shared for now :D
So, I'm back to posting again some of OOTDs. Yup, we only go casuals on Fridays, holidays and paydays so posts under this category may be far in between. Anyway, to make it up to you. Here's a set of some of my recent outfits :) And hey, I've also added some of shots of my kitchen experiments in Gracie in the Kitchen. This was my gallery of bento photos but since my daughter's school now provides their school snack, I am at a pause on bento creation. I will still try to create bento meals for my daughter though. I miss it too much :\
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the pictures I shared for now :D

Ever since we had a kid, hubby and I had begun appreciating toy sets that came with kiddie meals at fastfood chains. Though we are not too fond of fastfood (unhealthy choice), we do sometimes give in especially if we need food on the go or if we spy some toys that we think G would love. So far, we’ve collected dragons, aliens, Barbie’s and books (and belly fat, if I may add). Just recently, I saw Jollibee was offering Hello Kitty mini room sets with their kiddie meals. I must admit that McDonald’s offer more enticing toys but the HK set was too cute to pass up. There were only 2 room sets so one lunch date was all it took for M and I to complete the series. Little G loved it. So much so that she requested for more ‘rooms’ and that is why I came to do her cardboard dollhouse. Mind you, I was leaning towards a wooden dollhouse but that would take more planning so I resorted to using cardboard and spending a weekend to tend to our child’s whim. This post is all about the things I used to create my weekend project. The main thing about this project is that this is just temporary. With the main structure made only from karton, the life span of this dollhouse would only be short-term. You can’t really expect it to withstand the force that is a 3-year old toddler who hasn’t fully grasped the concept of “fragile”. So I decided to let my OC-ness slide a bit and decided not to invest too much on the design and little details. I decided to use recycled materials and little junk lying around the house so it wouldn’t be too painful if G wrecked it to pieces. I also wanted to use this as a practice run (in making miniatures and decorating) should we decide to have the wooden dollhouse made. The house itself is made of cardboard. Used cardboard would be fine. I made some slits on the walls and floors then glued them together to make it sturdier. Cutouts were made for the doorways and windows. I didn’t bother to paint the outside, except for the roof, since G didn’t really take notice of it. We have an assortment of wall coverings. Most of the walls were covered with either plain white paper or colored paper; the floor were covered with brown Japanese(?) paper. Colorful tapes or washis as well as punched out shapes was also used as wall décor. When we decided to send G to pre-nursery, I made up my mind that I will make an effort to provide her with healthy snacks for school. Yeah, I know that they are only given 15-20 minutes of snack time but still, I want to try to give her less junk and sweets. And yes, "regular" food would seem unappealing to a toddler so I looked for ways on how to make her food look more appetizing. Then, I stumbled on the idea of bentos. I absolutely love it. Borrowing the line from my daughter G's current favorite movie (Thank God, the "Frozen" phase is finished.), I am indeed still breathing and an existent being here on Earth. Hahaha! Pardon for being on hiatus. I've been busy and juggling family, work and social responsibilities has kept me on my toes. But I sorely missed writing and sharing with you my handful of readers (hahaha) what has been happening.
Just to give you a quick rundown and I promise to write more about them in detail: 1) My father was sick and was in critical condition last March. We had spent almost a month in the hospital. It was one of the most challenging episodes in my and my family's lives. He is now ok and is back in Bulacan with my mom. 2) Our little ruckus-maker is now attending school. She's at Pre-nursery. Well, she just plays there and sings and dance. But she's happy and has been looking forward to school. Why can't I just play and sing and dance during the weekdays? *sigh* 3) I rekindled my love for writing. I have been contributing poems and articles to our company's in-house publication. I'll be posting some of my works here also :) 4) We got to squeeze in some vacay time. Local travels are still love. Our country has such beautiful places we have yet to visit. And hubby doesn't want to go out of the country yet. He wants to wait til G is older or has a sibling (what?!) before we go visit Disneyland and the likes. 5) Been tinkering with some crafts and DIY. I think some creative outlet is good for overall health. :) So yes, I have a lot of stories to share. I will find time to write all about them. For now, I'll post a teaser pic on what is my current addiction :D Any guesses? :) It was only last year that I've heard of washi tapes and I had began to collect them. I didn't immediately go crazy with them as I was still for projects that I really liked, with the end product being something that I will use. So I'll just share a couple of small projects that I did with washi and decorative tapes. I love this dress from Smart Mum Online. It's very pretty and I got a lot of compliments when I wore this dress. The colors are really bright and sparks a bit of cheery mood.
Yes, I am still alive and kickin' (yeah!). Despite what some might have thought, nothing ill happened to me (thank God!) for the past few months that I haven't been able to post new entries or reply to your comments and emails. Ok, I admit it. I was simply having episodes (several months long) of "K". Katamaran. No, I won't make any excuses but I will say that I had a hard time mustering energy to post new items here. It may be because I was having work burnout or probably just tired after working in the office then tending to G when I get home. Adding to that the stress of hiring, losing/firing nannies and then searching for a new one probably did it. But as I've said, I should have put my foot down and work on my time management. I won't pass the blame or point fingers. It's all on me. But please, don't hate me? :) So, 2014. A new year. I am not really into making New Year's resolutions because I know myself well enough that I would probably ne enthusiastic about it at first but would probably ditch the idea by the second or third quarter of the year. And I did make a list last year. Let's see how much did I actually accomplish... 1) Minimize shopping. >> Hmmm.. compared to the past years, I'd say I spent a little less (?). But I had definitely exercised a bit more self-control. I've actually turned down opportunities to shop for new things when I know I still have some of the same at home which are rarely used. 2) I will spend more money in... savings. >> I can't actually say that I'd saved a lot. So this is a fail for me. 3) I will try to be more mellow. >> I'd say getting there. G is now a makulit toddler and I can't always have a short fuse when dealing with her. 4) I will take better care of myself. >> I'd say FAIL on this. I did start exercising and was able to shed off 7 pounds. But the holidays came and the short hiatus from diet and exercise became longer and longer til I gained back again the lost weight. Bummer. 5) In relation to #1, I want a simpler beauty regimen. >> Yes on this. 6) Be more diligent in blogging. >> *Ahem* 7) Be more in tune with God. >> I'd say I didn't meet my own expectation. So, 3 out of 7. Not a miserable fail but still a fail. I think I'd stick with this same list for this year since it is more realistic for me. I just hope that I'd be able to follow it through. So let's check in again midyear to see how we are progressing, ok?
Touch of feminine. Mix and match outfits are challenging at times so a dress (like on the right photo) is always a no-brainer :)
One perk of having a baby girl is that there are a lot of options for dressing up (or down) your child. Thing is, you'll also go broke if you go buying every cute dress or shoe out there. I used to fight my urges to go all out shopping for Georgie's wardrobe but I learned to restrain myself and try to buy pieces that would go a long way. I like buying simplre dresses that Georgie could wear as a top na lang when she grows bigger.
Medyo hirap lang ako when it comes to shoes, hehehe. What I do is think na madaling pagsikipan ni Georgie yan so the impulse would subside. But Georgie is showing "symptoms" (?) of being a shoe fanatic herself when she would take out her fur trimmed boots, hand it to me to help her wear it for INSIDE THE HOUSE. Boots are not slippers, anak! She also kept insisting on wearing her sequined rubber shoes when visiting her granny who lives just one floor above us. *sigh* Anyway, as you know I love dressing up so I thought of sharing here some of Georgie's outfits also. She loves going out. Just tell her, "Pasyal tayo" and she'll say "A-is" (Alis with a silent "l") while pointing to the door. She screams in delight whenever we go downstairs cos she knows we'll be going out. Lakwatsera! Lol. So I'll start of with the outfit she wore for the kiddie Christmas party here at the office last December 2012 :) My baby is now a toddler. I can vividly recall the moment when I gave birth to our precious little angel and how she had looked to fragile then. Looking at her now running around and communicating with us through her babbles, I am just amazed how children grow up that fast. |
