You might have been missing my posts here (and I'm hoping you were) and wondering what's up with me. Well, I'm now a mother of a beautiful baby girl :) I know you'd want to know all about Goergie's journey so you could read my blog about that. You might also want to check out the photo gallery of our maternity shoot with Redsheep. And what do you think of the new theme and logo? :) This blog would always be a work in progress so any comments and suggestions are welcome!

I'm back! :) Here are some of the outfits I'd worn for casual Fridays. Since I haven't lost the pregnancy fats yet, it's still a bit challenging to come up with outfits from my closet. As with most guys, my hubby is really uncomfortable posing in front of a camera. But after a considerable amount of coaxing, bribing, threatening and (fake) crying (not all at the same time, of course), I had finally convinced M to let me have a maternity shoot. I contacted a few photographers who were referred by some friends on my social networking group but were unsuccessful in pushing through with the booking. So I got in touch with our wedding photographers and asked them if they wanted to do a maternity shoot. Guj (of Redsheep) was an all go and I was happy that I would be able to capture an important part of my and M's life.
Shot at Sulo Hotel, QC. As mentioned on my birthing story, I had GDM during my pregnancy so my endocrinologist had me taking insulin until I gave birth. When I was still recovering in the hospital, my blood sugar was still checked and I was glad that they seemed to have gone back to normal.
Before I was discharged, the doctor told me that I need not monitor my blood sugar anymore (no more pricking! yay!) nor take in insulin (no more injecting on my legs! double yay!) BUT I had to be wary of my diet and I still had to take the OGTT come 2012 to be sure na di tumuloy sa diabetes ang aking GDM. So last Saturday, I went to USTH for the test and had to drink again the orange flavored drink (ok sana kasi parang Royal kasi malamig pa yung binigay sakin kaso talagang sobrang tamis). I was a bit nervous while waiting to see the results because I really do not want to be a diagnosed with diabetis. Thankfully, the results came out all NORMAL. Yes! *pump fists* My doctor told me that I just continue my diet (sa totoo lang, di talaga ako nag-diet after ko manganak and I was nibbling on chocolates which were aplenty during the holidays) and just have the OGTT annually to be sure. No problem with me, doc! I'm just happy and thankful to God to know that I'm not diabetic. :) The past year had been a truly memorable with my pregnancy and the birth of our little gem, Georgette. My journey to motherhood had been somewhat smooth and my work had kept me busy until I had to go on my maternity leave. I'd posted a few blog entries during my early pregnancy but with making sure that I am healthy for our baby, clearing out my desk from work added with pregnancy hormones that made me so "tamad" to face the computer (again) at home had kept me to keeping you up to date with what's happening. So to make up for it, here's my birthing story.
Before I make kwento on my D-Day, I mentioned that my pregnancy was somewhat smooth. I never got sick even if my colleagues who are seated in the cubicles next to me have all been contacting colds and cough. I was energetic and was religiously having my "walking exercise" at the mall near our office during my lunch break. But during my 3rd trimester, I was diagnosed with GDM or gestational diabetes. I am not one to have a sweet tooth and I could easily say no to desserts but my carb intake (I was eating a cup of rice for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Sometimes even as afternoon snack) made my blood sugar shoot up. I was at first advised to revise my diet and monitor my blood sugar. But the numbers were still fluctuating so my endocrinologist had me take insulin for the rest of my pregnancy. It wasn't such a big deal for me but it was a bit of a hassle bringing the insulin pen with me especially when I had to eat out. I got through it though :) |
