That part of the agenda done, my mom and I went to shop for her shoes. My mom is very particular with shoes cos she wanted them to be very comfortable. We weren't so lucky to find my mom her shoes so we decided to schedule another mall visit and hit the supermarket to buy groceries for my cooking demo for Myke and his mom :D
MEETING DE FAMILIA
To demonstrate my ability of being a good wife, I decided to cook for Myke and my FMIL (future mother-in-law) who decided to visit yesterday. I've been looking around the Home Cooking Rocks site to look for easy to prepare recipes.
I decided to make Chocolate and Coffee Panna Cotta (which I already tried last Christmas) and the Fish and Tokwa. For the greens, I just thought of making brocolli with oyster sauce. Since I have to let the panna cotta set, I prepared this the day before.
Well, I must have miscalculated the measurements (since I was attempting to make a big batch) because the gelatin didn't set. I've tried to do some damage control by adding more gelatin to the coffee layer but it still didn't harden. I decided to let it sit overnight hoping it will set.
Come yesterday morning (the day of the visit), I was excited to taste my panna cotta that I ate a small cup for breakfast. This small act of katakawan turned out to be a bad decision. A very bad decision.
Myke and his mom was already en route to our house and we don't have anything for them to eat so my mom had helped me prepare lunch since I was a bit weak after that tummy episode.
The lunch was a success :) Our guests even appreciated my failed panna cotta (which still didn't set). I was actually a bit hesitant to serve them dessert since I thought it was the panna cotta that gave me my tummy ache. But it was actually my katakawan that stirred up trouble. My mom had reprimanded me again (and again) for eating cold sweets for breakfast. Sorry na nga 'Ma :D
At the end of the day, we were all happy. I got well in time, my dishes were good (except for the panna cotta not setting) and the mommies got to have some bonding moments too :D
Nothing really beats spending some quality time with families *happy sigh*
