Worn when I hanged out at the mall with hubby :) P.S. Pardon the messy 'do. Hubby was too busy snapping photos away to took notice.

M, a colleague of mine, has a daughter who is turning 7 this June. Probably due to the fact that I don't have kids yet, I didn't know that 7th birthdays are milestones. So M is planning a lavish "Princess" themed party for her unica hija and she'd been busy researching for ideas for the party.
One of the ideas she had was the invitation. Due to cost-cutting, she wanted to DIY these. She is still torn on how she the presentation would be but she had asked me if I could design the invitation page. She provided me with the (text) contents and some pictures that depicts the look she wanted for the 'royal' invite :) I decided to give it a try yesterday on my lunch break. I had to do a bit of searching for the fonts that I'd like to use for the invite and had to forego most of the calligraphy type fonts since they aren't readable when they're resized. My first draft had swirl designs at the top and bottom - like a border for the inivitation body. I had put the crown on top of the letter P in princess for an added touch :) Today, hubby had commenced his "Down to 170 lbs." trim down program. I mentioned in a few of my posts how we like to eat and as a result, growing waistlines and increasing weight. I don't want to sound like a hypocrite but I confess that I also have tendecies to binge. Just the other day, I steamed some siomai to go with my instant pancit canton. I left half of the batch for hubby but somehow, I managed to down a few more of the tasty dumplings before I went to bed. Ugh.
Anyway, I always scold Myke whenever I catch him snacking on chocolates, cupcakes, wafers.. anything sweet actually. Nagging as I might have seemed but I was only concerned for his health. The scolding and reprimanding doesn't always work. And it was only when he checked his weight and the scale tipped to 230 that he finally decided that he should lose a bit of the love handles. I was happy to see that hubby had come to terms with the reality that the preggers looks does not work for him. Ha ha ha. I was also excited to join him on his quest of shedding a few pounds. But I don't think that he has the same idea.. When I asked him on what his "program" would be, he just said he won't be eating anything. But he did ask me to buy him some fruit juices from the grocery. So I guess he meant he'll lessen the carbs intake. And then I remembered the food in the fridge and the kitchen cabinet and asked Myke what we'll do with it. His answer: "Ikaw na lang ang kakain niyan." . Whaaaat?! Just so you won't think that I'm exaggerating, here's a peek on the contents of our fridge and kitchen cabinet: One of the items on my to-do list was to polish the look of my blog site specifically the side bar. There used to be a lot of items there - stat counters, blog roll, categories etc. Since my home page (blog) displays my most recent entries, the length of the sidebar looks pretty decent. But when you open a short blog entry, scrolling down to look at the sidebar could be quite tedious. Call me OC but if I personally am bothered by this, I felt that some of my readers would have the same sentiment. For me, it's like a cluttered desk and I don't like a messy workplace :P So, I made some revisions on my layout and added the spankin' new "About the Author" page. I hope you all like it. I love weekends. I get to stay in bed longer, no emails and phone calls to attend to... I have two whole days just waiting to be filled up with new discoveries and experiences. So yesterday, I did not get out of bed until 11am. My sweet hubby made brunch for us. After eating, we decided to have siesta. Our initial plans of playing badminton in the morning and watching a movie in the afternoon/evening was scrapped. We decided to stay in. Talk about lazy. Ha ha.
But there are some errands that we have to run so we did manage to haul our a**es off the comfy bed and got ready. After dropping off the comforter to the cleaners, we decided to grab a quick bite before we scout for badminton centers. We were back again to my old turf, Binondo and were discussing where we would eat when Myke suggested Masuki for some Chinese noodles. As with any other girls, I'm pretty excited to share with you some trinkets I've got for me-self :)
It seemed that cravings for saccharine typically associated with girls is quite the opposite for hubby and I.
I don't really like sodas, chocolates, doughnuts.. basically anything sweet with the exception though to ice cream. But I'm still quite choosy with ice cream flavors. Anyway, Myke on the other hand likes chocolates, sodas, cakes, doughtnuts. (Ugh. Thinking of them makes my teeth ache already.) And confronting him and basically banning him access to the sweets at our pantry usually turns into a debate - with him ending up with the silly grin on his face while wiping chocolate smudges off his chin and me in the sofa seething. Nakakainis makipagtalo sa matigas ang ulo. I know my MIL (mother-in-law) had been keeping watch of Myke's eating habits. And she always reminds me to be conscious of what I put on the dining table cos Myke sometimes would just be a total binger. She wanted me to prepare more healthy food choices and so, she asked me to come with her to a seminar last Sunday to be more educated on the subject of healthy eating. The seminar was entitled "Prevention and Reversal of Heart Disease" that was spearheaded by the NeedHealth Ministries. The seminar wasn't too much of a bore. There were lectures on healthy eating choices - benefits of drinking water, eating less animal-sourced products and there was also cooking demo on how to prepare vegetarian dishes. For a fee, you could also enjoy a vegetarian buffet lunch which was composed of red rice, black beans, kidney beans, camote tops and vegetarian tocino. There was also boiled bananas, some green mangoes and singkamas with vegetarian bagoong. I love dresses. It very easy kasi - saves me time (and less stress) thinking about which tops go best with what bottoms. With a dress, all you have to think about is your accessory (and shoes, of course) and you're ready to go. For my next entry of Style Diary, I've collected some of my dress ensembles. I've donned these on different occassions (from L-R): friend's wedding at Calaruega, company event and our engagement session (aka prenuptial pictorial). What are your favorite dresses? :) Our plans to play for badminton today fell through so hubby and I decided to go malling instead. It has been a while since he and I watched a movie at the cinema and we also had some shopping to do anyway. Turned out that we won't be seeing any movies - he didn't like any of the films which are currently showing. He wanted to watch "Sanctum" in 3D which unfortunately, wasn't available in Robinson's Manila. So we ended up walking around the mall and buying stuff. We spent quite some time at the Japan Home Center. I think it was Myke's first time to go into their store :) One of the things we bought are these furniture 'socks'. You put them around the legs of your tables, chairs etc. para di siya masyado mapudpod sa kakahila. Ok rin siya lalo na if you're living in an apartment because the 'socks' muffle the thudding and scraping sounds of the legs against the floor. Di mo na mabubulabog ang kapitbahay mo sa baba :P |
