A lot. And I do not exaggerate when I said a lot has happened this past year. And yes I am guilty of not writing on my blog. I don't know why but whenever I've listed down something I wanted to blog about, I kept putting it off :( Bad. Very bad. I missed blogging so much! So I before we head off to the sub-urbans (where internet connection is nada) for the New Year celeb, I wanted to drop this little post. I can't bear to leave 2012 behind without a proper "end note".
I want to tell you guys that this year had definitely posed some challenges on my personal life but the upside is positive outweighs the negative. And I'm still thankful for the blessings that have come our way. And yes, I am looking forward to the new year with a happy disposition, a positive outlook and a stronger will. :)
So what will you expect next year? You'd probably read more about our baby girl, G. Now a toddler, she is discovering the world and we parents are learning day by day - enjoying the joys and pains of parenthood. I want to put up her own Style Diary category of my blog. I also want to share some of my kikay experience and new finds. And oh, I still owe you some of my own outfit posts and the supplier ratings from Georgie's first birthday! Yep, time to get crackin' on 2013.
From my family to yours, we wish you guys a great 2013! Happy New Year!
♥
M + G + Baby G
The past year had been a truly memorable with my pregnancy and the birth of our little gem, Georgette. My journey to motherhood had been somewhat smooth and my work had kept me busy until I had to go on my maternity leave. I'd posted a few blog entries during my early pregnancy but with making sure that I am healthy for our baby, clearing out my desk from work added with pregnancy hormones that made me so "tamad" to face the computer (again) at home had kept me to keeping you up to date with what's happening. So to make up for it, here's my birthing story.
Before I make kwento on my D-Day, I mentioned that my pregnancy was somewhat smooth. I never got sick even if my colleagues who are seated in the cubicles next to me have all been contacting colds and cough. I was energetic and was religiously having my "walking exercise" at the mall near our office during my lunch break. But during my 3rd trimester, I was diagnosed with GDM or gestational diabetes.
I am not one to have a sweet tooth and I could easily say no to desserts but my carb intake (I was eating a cup of rice for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Sometimes even as afternoon snack) made my blood sugar shoot up. I was at first advised to revise my diet and monitor my blood sugar. But the numbers were still fluctuating so my endocrinologist had me take insulin for the rest of my pregnancy. It wasn't such a big deal for me but it was a bit of a hassle bringing the insulin pen with me especially when I had to eat out. I got through it though :)
Myke and I had got to see our baby girl today. We dropped by In My Womb in Glorietta during our lunch break so we could have a first look of our baby :)
She was just beautiful. Our baby is in a transverse position and we couldn't see her face during the initial probe. But after having lunch, she was just cooperative. She was smiling and twisiting her wrists. So cute! There was even an instance that she opened her eyes briefly :) We were given the b&w photos for now and we are hoping that the colored pictures and videos would be better.
Just a little rant though on IMW. I had initially set a 4D ultrasound schedule for last Wednesday. They got my mobile number to inform me in case there would be scheduling problems. But they apparently got a digit of my cellphone number wrong so I didn't get their text blast last Wednesday morning that we have to be re-scheduled. We had then set the appointment for today at 12nn for the ultrasound. Myke and I spent the rest of Wednesday afternoon window shopping for playpens.
But today, the doctor was late! Instead of 12nn, we only started the session at 12:30pm :( During the initial check, our baby was in a transverse position with her hands and feet covering her face so the doctor couldn't get a good view of her face. We were asked to have some lunch first and then come back to see if the baby will cooperate. When we came back, the attendant was gesturing for us to hurry up as if saying na bilisan namin pumasok sa room :( Sana di naman ganon. It wasn't our fault that the doc came in late so they have to adjust the time of those who had their apointments after us.
Anyway, we were still happy especially with the experience of seeing our baby girl in video. Myke and I are excited to see her in November! :)
They say sometimes we have to be in touch with the inner child in us so we could appreciate the little things in life. Paano naman kung bumalik ka sa pagkabata? He he he.
I don't know if hubby would kill me for posting this but I can't help sharing his kakulitan. :P We were waiting for the scheduled screening of Transformers 3 at Greenbelt and Myke decided to kill the time by playing a missile game on his phone. One would think that the he could have settled for the built-in game sounds but no, he had to make his own "special effects" (?!).
Whenever I play this clip on my phone, it always reminds me of the sound cats made when they're in heat. Ha ha!
Hope this brings a smile on your face. To my Bibi, I love you! Peace! xoxo
That's me with my baby bump at 23 weeks!
I'm happy that I've graduated from the first trimester of my pregnancy so I feel less nauseous and am now a bit more energetic. That is why I haven't been much active in blogging this past months. I'm not complaining though. Despite the challenges physically, Myke and I are both excited and eager in anticipation for our baby :)
So expect that for my entries, you'll read about our baby's development and day-today living of soon-to-be parents :) My
Style Diaries might feature more of maternity fashion. But it's still the same me that you'll read about and I hope that you'd still check my site for updates.
Ciao!

That's our baby at 8 weeks, 5 days. Yes, Myke and I will soon be mommy and daddy! :)
As soon as two red lines appeared on the home pregnancy kit that I've used, I had mixed emotions. Happy and excited that we were blessed to have a baby and yet I was a bit fearful especially after
I had my miscarriage. So when I was lying on the bed and waiting for the sight of our baby during my ultrasound, I was a bit apprehensive. But once we saw the baby, we were relieved that the baby's ok. Hearing the baby's heartbeat for the very first time was a truly unforgettable experience. I'll say it was just a beautiful sound :)
I got a nice surprise this morning when I checked my blog stats. Aside from checking the number of site visits I had, I also make sure to check which sites had the most referrals to mine. I noticed that apart from the usuals, I have a few of referrals from
Sheng's site.
I knew instantly that she had probably uploaded the feature that we were discussing last month. I saw Sheng's post at
Girltalk (Wedding and Engagements thread) asking for contributions for DIY projects. I immediately submitted
my DIY lace gloves for consideration. She liked the idea and so we exchanged a few private messages. And now the article's up in her site! That's I what call blog love :)
Go
read more about the feature and also check out Sheng's take on life's
Sweet Simple Joys :)
Thanks, Sheng! xoxo
Nowadays, a lot of people have become figure-conscious. I and a few of my colleagues are no exception. With the gastronomic feast we've had over the past Holidays, it's no wonder that our bodies might be showing bulges that are better off to be on some livestock or somebody else who is
"pilit na nagpapataba pero walang effect".
Hmp! <-- Bitter? :P
Rather than complain, my colleagues had the idea of holding their own
"The Biggest Loser" edition to finally work on the unwanted fats. To sweeten the (or)deal, participants decided to chip in a certain amount of money and the accumulated cash will be the prize for the winner. The challenge? Be the one who will lose weight the most in a span of 5 months.
Now to make sure no one slacks around, the loser (the one who had the least weight lost) will take the 2nd and 3rd placers on a treat.
Sana lang e wag pakainin sa Eat-All-You-Can
resto. Sayang lang ang trinabaho ng limang buwan. Hi hi hi!
Official weigh in was last January 12. The four 'contenders' had agreed to have their "Before" pictures taken so we could see their progress(?). For
kahihiyaan reasons, I have purposely hidden their faces (ha ha ha! Peace, guys!).
So who will be the winner? We'll find out and I'm gonna post updates on this, you betcha ;-)
P.S. Anyone who wanna place bets with me, you may send me a private message. Ha ha ha!
*Note: Author with consent from the four participants to post their mug shots.. err.. photos.
Took a test last December 25 (very fitting. Hi hi hi.) and another one this morning. Both showing two distinct lines :D
My office colleagues are so excited for me that they even sent me this Chinese calendar to 'predict' the baby's gender. Hmm... Let's see... Well, if this calendar is accurate, our first born will be a boy :P
Hubby and I couldn't be happier. Will definitely make an appointment with a doc soon to hear the official word :)
