I first joined our company's annual "Lakaran" last year. Myke and I had so much fun that I was determined to participate again. After all, what's walking a few kilometers when you are able help out other people? :) Our company's walk-for-a-cause this year was entitled "Walk for A Smile". PLDT has tied up with Operation Smile to come up with donations for the operation of 82 kids with cleft lip and palate. 82 kids in significance of the 82nd year aniversary of PLDT. I was more amped than ever to join because I wanted to be able to help a kid and be able to bring a smile to his face. I know that people with facial deformities are often the shied away from and it must be harder for a kid who would likely be teased or bullied by someone who doesn't have a defect. My co-employees were also all-out on their support and because of that, we were able to surpass the P1M target of donation money :) Everyone was cheering and very happy to hear that now, Walk for A Smile will be able to help out additional kids. So, kudos to our company, my colleagues and Operation Smile for the successful event. I, for one, am very proud that "I walked to make a child smile" :D *Photos courtesy of Mr. Francis Cadiente.
