Well, after showing you some of our wedding portraits, you know which one I chose *wink*
My wedding dress was a simple gown with soft lines and detailed beadings on the straps and bodice. I stuck with this design because it is contemporary and yet elegant. But.. there wasn't a shred of lace on my dress and I was itching to have something in lace on my ensemble. I have also wanted to wear gloves for the wedding but I tried to veer away from the opera type gloves that one would usually see on brides. Again, I wanted a contemporary touch so I decided to choose between fingerless and fingertip gloves.
Making just a dainty pair for white lace gloves was not an easy task. I had to make a second trip to the lace shoppe to buy another yard lace because I've used up my first supply without successfully making a piece of hand glove. But persistence paid off :)
The lace I've used had big flower patterns that I thought would clash with my gown. I thought that maybe the contrast could also serve a purpose - making my gloves a statement accessory instead. I initially wanted to put in some embellishments on the gloves but decided against it at the last minute so that my dress would still stand out. In the end, it still worked out because the flower stitching made by Ruel on my veil bought it all together :)
